You will see two lights on either side of the hallway. It is strongly advised that you activate the permanent invisibility glitch for this, or as mentioned, use the Envy Skull.įrom the beginning of Outskirts, run into the first hallway and then look overhead. The following guide is the fastest and easiest route to the skull. You may skip the beginning part of the level by using the rooftops, but if the Jackal snipers in the alley are loaded while you are on the rooftops, the skull may not ever load, so it is recommended that you enter the alley on foot. The IWHBYD Skull has a random chance of spawning (possibly a one in seven chance, referenced by the "1" and "7" posters in the room containing the skull) when the game loads the Jackal snipers in the alley after the clearing where Johnson is picked up in the pelican. We recommend turning on Bandanna, Envy, Scarab, and Sputnik (optional) to make getting to the skull and the actual final challenge of the skull infinitely easier. Note: This is the most challenging skull to get in Halo 2. Don't worry if you don't see the skull clearly just hit the mapped action button and you'll collect it.ĭifficulty: Legendary Level: Outskirts Word: IWHBYD Effect: Rare combat dialogue becomes more common. Now that you're on the platform, melee the trash can away from the wall a few times, the Thunderstorm Skull is right behind it. If you're having trouble jumping from the beam to the rails, try getting a walking start, jump at the edge with a little Crouch Jump to help Chief get a little further. Your objective is to hop onto the rails shown below (be careful, you can fall through them!) and then hop over to a platform behind them. Once you're on the higher level, hop on the slanted beam closest to the armory door. You can use the shield by the armory door, plant fixtures, or anything that gives you a little elevation to make getting up to the light easier. You need to use a Crouch Jump to get onto a light fixture on the wall with the open platform above (right of the room when you enter) and then jump from there onto that higher area. Now you'll need to put your jumping skills to the test. Note: The Sputnik Skull helps a lot here, but it's possible to get the Thunderstorm Skull without it.įirst, clear this large room right outside the armory. As you approach the second tunnel, hold X, or the button have you mapped to "action" button (this is RB if you're using a controller or E for keyboard with the default bindings on PC), and to pick up the Skull as the tram moves. Get on the tram, and face toward the Earth side of the building (walk on and don't turn around, essentially). Just to the right of the next tunnel entrance is the skull on a crate. You can actually see the skull before boarding the tram! Walk to the left side and look down the tunnel. Once he says this, get in the elevator, and go up to the tram. This takes approximately four minutes and forty seconds. ' You MUST wait for him to say, "Would it help if I said please?" before entering the elevator. Wait in the room until Johnson starts berating you, telling you to get into the elevator. They also have better accuracy and are much less likely to kill themselves or their teammates with explosive weapons.Īt the beginning of the level, after you power your shields for the first time, Sergeant Johnson shows up on an elevator. Wrong Effect: AI become more observant, noticing even active camouflage, shadows, the sound of reloading or drawing a weapon, footsteps, etc. Difficulty: Legendary Level: The Armory Word: Whuppopotamus / That's Just.

While R has a rich set of libraries for cytometric data analysis, we believe that FlowKit provides a complementary alternative with access to state-of-the-art data science and machine learning frameworks for Python developers and will be welcomed by the cytometry bioinformatics community. We chose Python as the implementation language for pragmatic reasons - Python is the dominant language for data science, machine learning and computer vision the two main deep learning frameworks, TensorFlow and Torch, use Python as their de facto language Python is now often taught as a first programming language in many quantitative disciplines and Python has a robust ecosystem for scalable workflows and system integration. To allow integrative manual and automated analysis, we worked with FlowJo developers to ensure that FlowKit could read and write FCS and FlowJo workspace files, allowing the round-tripping of data and analytic results to and from FlowJo. To interface with data science, machine learning and computer vision algorithms, we developed FlowKit so that analytic results and event data could be exported as a generic pandas DataFrame, a standard unit for analysis in Python scientific workflows and interoperable with the R, Spark, and SQL frameworks. To ensure that foundational cytometry operations are supported, we checked for full compliance with Gating-ML 2.0 ( 1), hence ensuring that compensation, transformation, and gating operations were all implemented correctly. Specifically, we wanted to develop a robust basis for foundational cytometry operations, provide a straightforward interface to SCDS algorithms, and facilitate the integration of manual and automated analysis. We developed FlowKit to bridge the gap between manual and automated workflows. However, there are also severe limitations to a purely manual workflow for data analysis, especially the poor scalability to high-volume workflows and limitations of visual discovery for high-dimensional data sets. For example, domain experts are typically better at removing debris, dead cells, and cell aggregates by gating than automated approaches. There are good reasons for this - traditional software such as FlowJo excels at the visual manipulation and analysis of data, and human analysis is inherently more adaptable than any fully automated workflow. We present examples of the use of FlowKit for constructing reporting and analysis workflows, including round-tripping results to and from FlowJo for joint analysis by both domain and quantitative experts.ĭespite the phenomenal advances in Single Cell Data Science (SCDS) methodology and an ever-growing collection of algorithms and open-source packages, it is an open secret that the day-to-day analysis of cytometric data in flow laboratories and core facilities is still predominantly performed using traditional software, especially FlowJo. To address this challenge, we developed FlowKit, a Gating-ML 2.0-compliant Python package that can read and write FCS files and FlowJo workspaces. To a large extent, this cuts domain experts off from the rapidly growing library of Single Cell Data Science algorithms available, curtailing the potential contributions of these experts to the validation and interpretation of results. Domain experts in cytometry laboratories and core facilities increasingly recognize the need for automated workflows in the face of increasing data complexity, but by and large, still conduct all analysis using traditional applications, predominantly FlowJo. An important challenge for primary or secondary analysis of cytometry data is how to facilitate productive collaboration between domain and quantitative experts. Instead of being produced as a powder (amphetamine or speed), it’s made as large chunks that look like crystals. Slang Names for Crystal MethĬrystal meth – also known as ice – is a form of methamphetamine or, to give it its technical name, n-methyl-1-phenyl-propane-2-amine. However, snorting powder meth produces a longer high without the initial rush. When a person uses powder meth and injects it, they get a similar rush. Is Ice a drug that’s inhaled, snorted, or ingested? Typically, Ice drug or crystal meth is burned, and the smoke is inhaled with a brief, intense rush is reported among users. Therefore, powdered meth can be snorted, ingested, dissolved, and injected. The impurities in powdered meth do not allow it to burn. Some users also dissolve ice drugs and inject them. Ice meth drug is pure enough to burn, so it is usually smoked. The drug is sold and used as a powder or chunky substance when it accomplishes this additional process. When methamphetamine is produced, then further refined and allowed to crystallize, it becomes an “Ice drug” or methamphetamine. It can also come as a white or brownish crystal-like powder with an intense smell and bitter flavor. Ice typically is sold as tiny chunky clear crystals that look like ice. It’s more powerful, more addictive, and thus has more damaging side effects than the powder form of methamphetamine called speed. Ice drug speeds up the messages from the brain to the body. It should be noted that Crystal methamphetamine, also termed ‘ice,’ and ice drug is an illegal stimulant. Ice drug is responsible for a large amount of drug-related harm and addiction. The drug Ice is a crystallized form of meth, often mixed with other substances or adulterants. Ice Drug is a type of street methamphetamine called Crystal meth. Moreover, prolonged Crystal Meth abuse can lead to meth face and meth mouth, severely disfiguring symptoms of the drug ice abuse. Long-term use of crystal meth, the ice drug, can lead to addiction, stroke, heart attack, and even death. The drug is also known to cause negative physical and psychological effects, including paranoia, aggression, and hallucination. Ice Drug Symptoms / Crytal Meth SymptomsĬrystal meth, also known as crystal meth or ice drug, is a widely abused stimulant that produces a euphoric high and is extremely addictive with numerous disturbing symptoms. Ice drugs’ high abuse rates and limited medical use should pose a warning to Crystal Meth’s adverse effects, which always last long after the “high” ends. In 2020 alone, 2.6 million people 12 or older reported using Crytal Meth. This insidious drug has a powerful effect on the body and mind, leading to countless cases of addiction each year. If you notice that you're often letting food sit in the freezer for months, consider defrosting it and eating it or changing your meal prep habits to avoid letting food sit so long that it develops ice crystals.Ice drug or Crystal meth is a highly addictive substance made from d-methamphetamine. Wall Street also forecasts that PLUG's losses at the non-GAAP adjusted EBITDA level will narrow from -$180 million last year to -$17 million in the current year. Market consensus sees Plug Power's top line expanding by +80% YoY from $499 million in fiscal 2021 to $899 million in FY 2022, according to sell-side financial estimates sourced from S&P Capital IQ. Heading into 2022, PLUG stock is expected to deliver higher revenue and narrower losses. This is why I have turned bullish on the name. I see increased revenue and narrower operating losses for PLUG in 2022, and its current valuations are attractive as compared to peers. I focus on Plug Power's outlook this year in this latest article. My prior initiation article for Plug Power was published on September 30, 2021. I raise my investment rating for Plug Power Inc.'s ( NASDAQ: PLUG) shares from a Hold to a Buy. The opinions expressed in this article are those of the writer, subject to the Publishing Guidelines.Onurdongel/iStock via Getty Images Elevator Pitch On the date of publication, David Moadel did not have (either directly or indirectly) any positions in the securities mentioned in this article. On the other hand, it’s not guaranteed that Plug Power will reach its full-year revenue target range.īesides, skeptical investors should question whether Plug Power is truly on a “path to profitability.” Thus, for the remainder of this year, financial traders would be wise to avoid PLUG stock. It’s fine to acknowledge Plug Power’s relatively robust quarterly sales. So, the hard facts don’t seem to support Plug Power’s positive spin job. The company’s net loss in Q2 of 2023, however, was $236.4 million. In the year-earlier quarter, Plug Power incurred a net earnings loss of $173.3 million. Let’s see if Plug Power is actually on a “path to profitability,” though. Three different times, Plug Power used the phrase “path to profitability” in its second-quarter investor letter. Nevertheless, Plug Power’s management decided to put a positive spin on the company’s bottom-line results. In actuality, Plug Power lost 40 cents per share. Wall Street wasn’t particularly optimistic, as analysts predicted that Plug Power would report a quarterly earnings loss of 27 cents per share. Moreover, Q2 2023 continued the pattern of this unfortunate track record for Plug Power. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Plug Power has a consistent track record of missing analysts’ quarterly earnings per share (EPS) estimates. This is, in my estimation, a setup for disappointment in the coming quarters. Therefore, Plug Power will somehow need to post unusually strong quarterly sales figures in order to reach $1.2 billion to $1.4 billion for the full year. Furthermore, the company reported only $210.3 million in first-quarter 2023 sales. Mathematically, if all four quarters were like Q2 (with $260.2 million in revenue), then Plug Power would only generate $1.04 billion in full-year 2023 sales. It’s fine to be optimistic, but Plug Power also needs to be realistic. Looking ahead, Plug Power expects to generate full-year 2023 revenue in the range of $1.2 billion to $1.4 billion. As it turned out, Plug Power generated revenue of $260.2 million, thereby beating Wall Street’s forecast of $237.7 million. To be fair and balanced, I must acknowledge a bright spot in Plug Power’s second-quarter 2023 earnings results. All in all, PLUG stock is vulnerable to a sharp drawdown despite the management’s apparent optimism. For instance, Plug Power is reportedly borrowing as much as $1.5 billion to fund the construction of hydrogen plants.īut then, borrowing money could put negative pressure on Plug Power’s financials - which, as we’ll discover, aren’t ideal. It’s certainly one of the most ambitious players in the green hydrogen space of the 2020s. The point here isn’t to disrespect Plug Power as a company. After delving into the data, financial traders should seriously think about avoiding PLUG stock. That’s fine, but it means that investors should view Plug Power’s (NASDAQ: PLUG) latest earnings letter with a skeptical eye. When a company issues a quarterly press release, typically it will put a positive spin on the company’s recent performance. Laughter runs freely and easily in the Florimbi-Simon household, even when they’re disagreeing. “It’s a Goldilocks kind of place,” Florimbi says, punctuating the thought, as he frequently does, with a chuckle that suggests he thinks what he has just said or is about to say sounds a tad goofy or, worse, pretentious. They wanted good light, good views, and most of all, simplicity. “We’ve moved a lot,” says Simon, “almost like trying on clothes. In essence, he re-created a masterpiece.”įlorimbi, Simon and Sophia have lived in several Santa Barbara houses, a converted four-car garage and a dank 1880s stone dwelling among them. It took a great deal of creativity to bring the original focus back into reality. “It was in a sad state of disrepair,” says Logan, “but David instantly saw the interplay of light that is a trademark of Smith’s designs. Twelve years ago when they moved to Santa Barbara from L.A., they bought and renovated El Hogar, the 1914 studio-residence, inspired by Andalusian farmhouses, of architect George Washington Smith. They had reason to trust their instincts. Not a pretty sight, and needless to say, not holding much promise for the unimaginative or the image-conscious.ĭespite the outspoken skepticism-bordering-on-disbelief of some of their friends, the couple bought the property. Flowered wallpaper covered walls, pink tile one of the bathrooms. The entrance was awkwardly placed, parking was far below the level of the house, the backyard was largely concrete, the floors were laid in white tile or white wall-to-wall carpeting. Rooms were claustrophobically small, with no flow. A hillside tightly hugged the rear of the house, giving it a pushed feeling. You couldn’t really tell if there was a view because of the thickly overgrown landscaping. It was like a house that seemed to be turned on its head.”īut the site was evocative - or probably was. “It was a house that, politely, you would say was ‘unique,’ ” says Logan, “totally lacking in the basics of how you get from room to room. “But we did think, ‘This could be an amazing place.’ ” That is, if you had the pluck and the aesthetic vision to see past its flaws and peculiarities, and take it on. “We said, why? When we first saw it, we weren’t hit with, ‘This is an amazing place,’ ” says Florimbi. The only comparable remaining houses in the estate corridor are the guest houses, according to Logan, a third-generation Santa Barbaran whose grandfather was an estate caretaker. “Everyone else who looked at this house wanted to tear it down,” says Florimbi of the 1940s’-era house and, indirectly, of what is a familiar practice in Montecito: replacing the understated with the overstated. There is still the garage to convert to an at-home work space for Florimbi, a piano room to a dining room, the tiny guest house to a writing retreat for Simon. He and Simon, who has gone to pick up their 12-year-old daughter, Sophia, from ballet practice, have yet to fully transform the house they redesigned themselves and moved into a year ago after a massive remodeling. At 3,200 square feet, the ranch-style homestead is less than half the size of most of the residences surrounding it and one-fifth that of the palazzo across the lane. Instead, the angling one-story house of dark green wood has a humility that renders it all but invisible in juxtaposition with its bigger, grander neighbors. An electronic gate slides open, revealing an unimposing structure that is no less a jolt to the expectations than the architectural extravagance just beyond.Īfter all, this is what’s known as “the estate corridor” of Montecito, so a certain augustness would be perfectly in keeping with the demeanor of the region. A case of mistaken identity.ĭavid Florimbi and Nancy Simon’s house is directly across the street, obscured by a fence. This must be the one - no other house in sight - but how can it be? Is this really the sort of place two serious artists - a conceptual painter and a fiction writer - would live in? Two practitioners of Buddhism, in a place of such startling exaggeration, such frippery? Doesn’t compute. Here, on a bosky Montecito lane, is a house so improbably huge and overbearing, it takes on a momentary aspect of menace in the half-light of late afternoon. THE spine stiffens and the spirit goes cold. |
